The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, today, Thursday, 25th June 2026, concluded his strategic engagement tour of Area Commands with a visit to Rano Area Command.

The visit marks the successful completion of a three-week tour of all 11 Area Commands across the three Senatorial Districts of Kano State.

The tour covered Metro, Central, Tarauni, Hotoro, Dala, Eastern Bypass, Bichi, Dambatta, Wudil, Tudun Wada, and Rano Area Commands. It was conducted in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen operational efficiency, entrench intelligence-led policing, uphold fundamental human rights, and deepen public trust.

Engagement with Rano Area Command
Addressing officers and men of Rano Area Command, CP Bakori commended their commitment to crime prevention and public order management.

He charged them to operate strictly within the rule of law and due process, with respect for fundamental human rights as non-negotiable.

He cautioned against unlawful detentions beyond constitutionally prescribed periods and reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for torture, cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment in line with the provisions of the Anti-Torture Act, 2017, warning that any officer found culpable will face disciplinary and criminal prosecution.

The CP further directed that the use of force must be justified, proportionate, and in strict accordance with Force Orders; that officers must maintain civil and respectful conduct with members of the public; respond promptly and decisively to distress calls; sustain high-visibility patrols to deter crime; and ensure zero tolerance for corruption, extortion, and all forms of misconduct. CP Bakori also reminded personnel to comply strictly with the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, warning that unauthorized posting, sharing of operational information, or unprofessional conduct on social media platforms will attract severe sanctions.

The CP briefed personnel on ongoing reforms under the IGP’s leadership, including improved welfare packages, enhanced insurance coverage, and better retirement benefits designed to boost morale and productivity. He urged officers to reciprocate through quality, selfless, and community-oriented service.

Royal homage to Emir of Rano
Following the engagement, the Commissioner paid a courtesy visit to His Highness, Amb. Dr. Muhammad Isah Umar, Autan Bawo 19, Emir of Rano, at his palace.

CP Bakori expressed appreciation for the Emirate’s continuous support and partnership with security agencies. He emphasized that traditional institutions remain critical stakeholders in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and community-oriented policing, and solicited the Emir’s continued prayers and collaboration to strengthen security in Rano Emirate.

In response, Amb. Dr. Muhammad Isah Umar, Autan Bawo, commended the CP for his proactive and people-centered leadership, assured the Command of the Emirate’s unwavering support, and louded the Commissioner of Police for his selfless service in addressing the remnants of security challenges in the State.

With the conclusion of the Rano Area Command engagement, CP Bakori has now personally visited and engaged personnel in all 11 Area Commands in Kano State within three weeks.

The tour provided direct interaction between Command leadership and officers, addressed operational challenges, and reinforced the IGP’s vision of a professional, accountable, and human rights-compliant Nigeria Police Force.

The Kano State Police Command remains committed to delivering policing services anchored on the rule of law, respect for human rights, and partnership with the public for the safety and wellbeing of all residents.
