Kano govt to spend over N40bn on underpass, flyovers, other projects

The Kano State Executive Council at its 8th session under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a number capital and recurrent projects worth billions of naira across the state.

The governor disclosed this on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

According to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the projects include:

1. Construction of an Interchange Underpass and Flyover at Dangundi for N15,974,357,204.

2. Construction of Tal’udu Interchange Clover Flyover for N15,455,507,265.

3. Three upward review of rates for the construction of covered sewage conduit/road along Jakara-Kwarin Gogau River for N3,360,084,380.

4. Construction of Kofar Waika-Unguwar Dabai-Yan Kuje western bypass road for N1,579,755,966.

5. Construction of Unguwa Uku-Yan awaki-Limawa junction for N1,350,460,874.

6. Completion of Kanye-Kabo-Dugabau road in Kabo Local Government for N820,262,071.

7. Completion and dualization of Kofar Dawanau-Kwanar Madugu road phase II for N802,695,617.

8. Re-award of contract for the pedestrian bridges at various locations across the state for N458,443,067.

9. Rehabilitation of the metropolitan street lights and traffic lights for N420,000,000.

10. Settlement of outstanding payment in respect of the contract for the rehabilitation of Kwanar Kwankwaso road in Madobi LG for N200,537,271.

11. Renovation works at the Reformatory Institute Kiru for N107,658,976.

12. Procurement of commodities and drugs for this month, to enable the public health facilities provide free Accident and Emergency, maternal and childcare services in the state for N53,654,223.

13. Payment of drugs and laboratory reagents and consumables supplied to Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital for N40,820,564

14. Settlement of the state government counterpart funding for 3 rounds of Diphtheria mass vaccination campaigns in 22 local government areas for N37,005,000.

15. Reconstruction of a burnt theater at the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies for N56,763,475.

He said “All the approved projects are geared towards improving the quality of life for the dwellers of Kano State.”
