Commandant Mohammed Lawal Falala, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Kano command was in the office of the Vice Chancellor, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano for a courtesy call.
The State Commandant has used the visit to assure the university management of the NSCDC’s continuous support and collaboration in providing maximum security within and outside the university environment.
“Due to the prevailing security situation in the country, though Kano is relatively peaceful, notwithstanding the Corps is ready to partner you especially with the launch of safe school project in providing the much needed security in this university”, Comdt Falala said.
Commandant Mohammed Falala during the visit stressed the need for educational institutions in the State to partner and collaborate with the Corps for improved security and safety of life and property in their domains.
While responding to the Commandant’s remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mukhtar Kurawa highlighted the key role security plays in the society, pointing out that no any meaningful socio-economic development can be achieved without security. According to him,the university under his watch attaches utmost importance to security of lives and property, that is why the institution is always ready and committed to liaising with security professionals like the NSCDC for a peaceful teaching and learning atmosphere.
Professor Kurawa further revealed that, though the university luckily doesn’t have to contend with problems of cultism and other high profile criminal incidences, nevertheless, the institution deem it appropriate to link up and collaborate with civil defence to enhance security network in and around the University’s environment.
Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano ( YUMSUK) a state owned conventional university runs 46 undergraduate programs as well as a number of postgraduate courses in different fields of human endeavor.
