Katsina governor swears in Prof Al-Amin as Special Adviser on Climate Change

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has swornin Prof. Mohammed Amin Al-Amin as Special Adviser on Climate Change.

The Governor conducted the swearing-in today at the State Government House, while emphasizing the state’s readiness to address climate change challenges through expert-driven solutions.

Prof. Al-Amin, a renowned expert in Urban Sustainability, brings over 25 years of distinguished experience to this critical role. His experience spans lecturing in universities, mentoring for civil societies and consulting for blue-chip companies.

As the Founder of the Centre for Energy and Environment at the Nigerian Defence Academy, and a Chartered Environmentalist, Prof. Al-Amin demonstrated intriguing leadership in environmental sustainability and climate action.

The new Special Adviser has sought-after credentials including serving as the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (2015-2019) and Special Technical Adviser to the Minister of Environment (2011-2012) and served as the Board of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). He presently operates from three offices, including the Katsina State Climate Change Secretariat and the Institute for Future Cities in Glasgow, UK.

At international level, Prof. Al-Amin is recognized for his expertise in Urban Ecosystem, Sustainable Cities, and Green Infrastructure. He has several accolades to his name including the Global Citizen Medal from Nature Trust International and the African Union Award for Students’ Mentorship.

As an accomplished academic, activist and expert, Al-Amin is one of the nation’s leading experts on Urban Ecosystems, Sustainable Cities, and Green Infrastructure.

He currently chairs five international NGOs and serves on the Executive Committee of the Geneva-based International Union for Global Development.

The Governor wished the new Special Adviser well and charged him to align with the administration’s ‘Building Your Future’ agenda to position Katsina State at the forefront of climate action in Nigeria and the world at large.
