Katsina youths hail emergence of Dikko Radda as APC guber candidate

A coalition of youth groups in Katsina State has expressed satisfaction with the emergence of the former Director-General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Umaru Radda, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Abubakar Sada, who is also the president Katsina Initiative for Good Governance, said the choice of Radda by the delegates in a “clean and credible” contest was commendable.

“We are happy to note that all the aspirants in the race for Katsina Government House campaigned based on issues, not sentiment, and the delegates were allowed to exercise their right without external influence.

“Radda, for his part, prayed for the best for Katsina State, even before the contest, which showed that his interest is not personal but for the overall development of the state,” Sada said in a statement shared to journalists in Abuja.

He said the ex-SMEDAN boss has garnered useful experience, especially in the area of small and medium scale enterprises, which Katsina State will benefit from.

“The rate of youth unemployment across the country is to say the least scary. But through SMEs, our youths can be empowered to become self-reliant and even employers of labour. This is one reason why Radda deserves our support to make his dream a reality,” Sada said.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Radda emerged the APC governorship candidate ahead of seven other aspirants that included the state deputy governor Mannir Yakubu, former Secretary to the Katsina State Government Dr Mustapha Inuwa and former Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC Abbas Masanawa.
