Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has approved the appointment of Mr Emmanuel Jurte as acting Provost of the College of Education Gindiri.
This is contained in a statement by Dr Makut Macham, the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, issued on Tuesday in Jos.
The appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of the Sole Administrator, Monsignor Cletus Gotan.
According to the governor, the acting provost would oversee the affairs of the institution pending the appointment of a substantive provost and other principal officers.
The governor thanked Gotan for his commitment, dedication and sacrifice during his stewardship, adding that it greatly assisted in repositioning the institution.
He said the cleric deployed his vast academic and administrative knowledge in addressing some of the challenges of the college.
Lalong commended Gotan for ensuring the accreditation of more courses at the institution, adding that he also enhanced teaching and learning in the college.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that until his appointment, Jurte was the Dean, School of Social Sciences and the Chairman, Committee of Deans of the College.
