
The Legislative Council of Shira Local Government Area in Bauchi State has sacked the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli and his Deputy Alhaji Usman Adamu.
The lawmakers appointed council leader Alhaji Wali Adamu as new head of the Local Government.
Speaking to newsmen in Bauchi, Wali Adamu said the chairman and his deputy were removed from office following the report of the committee appointed by the council that investigated the allegations of gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, failure to perform duties and abuse of office against the chairman and his deputy.
Wali said the committee has submitted its report, which has been considered by the council; and the report has found the chairman and his deputy guilty of the allegations against them.
He said by council resolution SLGLC 003 dated 28th February 2025, the council resolved as follows “Section 1: Removal of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman, this Council hereby removes the Chairman (Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Beli) and his deputy Hon Usman Adamu from office, as Chairman and vice Chairman of Shira Local Government respectively, effective immediately from today.28/2/25”
“Section 2: Grounds for Removal, the removal of the Chairman and his deputy is based on the findings of investigation committee, which has established that the chairman and his deputy were engaged in financial mismanagement, failed to perform their duties, breached the trust placed on them and abused their office”.
“Section 3, This Council hereby declares the office of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Shira Local Government Vacant”.
Wali who came to Bauchi was accompanied with 17 legislators to inform the state lawmakers on the recent development and submitted their letter to the clerk of the State House of Assembly.
When contacted in a telephone interview the embattled chairman Abdullahi Beli said “Some stakeholders from the local Government want to remove him from office.
He said they fabricated so many lies against him and many allegations that is not true.
Abdullahi said no one issued any query to him or questioned any thing about his work
