Maigari Ahmadu seeks EU support for regional ministry’s priority projects

Minister of State for Regional Development HE Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has canvassed for strong European Union (EU) partnerships to support the ministry’s priority projects.

He spoke on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, when the Ministry of Regional Development received a high-level delegation from the EU led by its Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gautier Mignot.

A statement by the ministry said “The visit was aimed at familiarizing the delegation with the newly created ministry and exploring strategic alignment with Nigeria’s regional development vision, especially through its emerging development commissions.”

It listed key areas of collaboration discussed to include: Infrastructure Development; Smart and Climate-Resilient Agriculture; Education and Healthcare; Renewable Energy
-Bureaucratic Digitization and ICT Integration; Community Resettlement and Humanitarian Outreach.

Maigari Ahmadu said a technical working group will be established to deepen discussions between the EU, MRD, and all development commissions—ensuring coordinated, high-impact outcomes for Nigeria’s regional transformation.
