Marwa visits NDLEA officers injured in Abuja mob attack, pledges justice and full support

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, has visited two officers injured in a mob attack during a drug raid in Abuja, assuring them of full medical care and justice.

Marwa visited Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim at the National Hospital on Monday, May 25, where they are receiving treatment.

The officers sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a mob during a raid on a notorious drug joint in Dawaki, FCT, on May 15, 2026, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the visit, Marwa sympathized with the officers and extended the support of NDLEA management. He said the agency would cover their welfare and ensure they receive the highest standard of medical care until fully recovered.

“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice,” Marwa said. “An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished.”

He commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism during the high-risk operation, saying their sacrifices in the fight against drug trafficking were invaluable to the nation.

To recognize their service, Marwa presented official Letters of Commendation personally signed by him and rolled out support packages to aid their recovery. He also praised NDLEA’s medical team and National Hospital staff for stabilizing the officers.

Marwa reaffirmed that the NDLEA would remain resolute in dismantling drug cartels despite violent resistance from criminal elements.
