Mbappe on Benzema’s France return: I want to play with the best

Didier Deschamps called up the Real Madrid striker

Kylian Mbappe is glad to welcome Karim Benzema back to the French national team, after Didier Deschamps called up the Real Madrid striker ahead of the 2020 European Championship.

Benzema hasn’t featured for France in the last five years, so not since Mbappe broke into the side, but he is now expected to form a formidable attacking trident for Les Blues along with the PSG man and Antoine Griezmann.

“I am very happy [with Benzema’s call-up],” said Mbappe.

“I have always said that I wanted to play with the best players. There are not many players who are better than Benzema in the world. He is going to give us what he knows how to do.

“He has played for Real Madrid for 10 years. He knows what pressure is, he has experience and he has talent above everything.

“It is easy to adapt to the great players. So, I am sure that he will adapt very quickly.”

Paris Saint-Germain won the Coupe de France after beating Monaco 2-0 on Wednesday and Mbappe stressed that their success is a result of the team’s efforts.

“We also hope to finish as high as possible [in Ligue 1],” Mbappe added.

“I try not to put a limit and help my team win trophies. I am very happy when I see happy friends, staff, everyone happy. That’s what matters to me.

“It is always nice when people talk about you. But this victory has been the work of the whole team.

“It is the team that put me in the best conditions, I only improve due to the work of my teammates. They made the maximum effort.”
