Mourinho: I think Zidane is happy with Bale’s departure

I am happy that Bale is at Tottenham

The double swoop Daniel Levy made to sign both Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale has gone down well with Tottenham Hotspur’s supporters, as well as Jose Mourinho who has claimed that whilst he believed Zinedine Zidane was happy to be rid of the Welsh international.

Spurs’ slow start to the domestic campaign appears to have been put behind them with a victory over Southampton, although they will be without Bale for just under a month as he continues to battle a pre-existing knee injury.

“I haven’t spoken with Zidane, but I think he must be happy with Bale’s departure and I’m really happy that he is here,” Mourinho explained to the press.

“Gareth is happy to be here with us, and hopefully at the end of the season we are all happy and he can stay with us.

“He is very happy and happiness is very important in life and in football, although we will take a while to see him, but with the doctors we have here when he is ready I think he will be the player we all know he is.”

Reguilon wasn’t included in the travelling squad to face Shkendija in the Europa League Third qualifying round on Thursday, with the former Real Madrid coach cautious over rushing the left-back into action so soon after an ankle injury.

“He has not yet trained with us, we knew that he wouldn’t be here for this game, but he is also not registered,” Mourinho added.
