NABDA, Federal University Dutse to partner on research

The Director-General National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Professor Abdullahi Mustapha has said that his agency will partner with Federal University Dutse in the area of Biotechnology research and development in the country.

The DG who made the statement when the management of FUD paid a congratulatory visit to him said the two institutions have something in common.

“It gives me a great pleasure to see my family here in Abuja. It makes me feel at home seeing the people I have worked with in the last ten years coming all the way from Dutse to see and congratulate me.

“I feel honoured and I appreciate this visit.The outgoing VC, the incoming VC and my successor at FUDSCON are all Biotechnologists one way or the other. This makes collaboration easier”

He said “NABDA is into Environmental Biotechnology. They can collaborate with the department of Environmental Management and Toxicology of FUD.

“NABDA is also into Medical Biotechnology. They can collaborate with FUD’s College of Medicine in the area of Medical Biotechnology research and above all the department of Microbiology and Biotechnology of the university is a natural partner of NABDA because they have areas of mutual interest”

Earlier in her remarks, the outgoing VC, Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar said the management of the university came to congratulate the DG on behalf of Council, staff and students over his well deserved appointment.

She said his remarkable achievement as pioneer Director of FUDSCON is a pointer that he would move the agency forward.

Prof. Fatima called for collaboration between the agency and the university. She prayed to Allah guide the DG in the discharge of his duties.

The incoming VC, Prof.Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed said the DG and himself are both alumnus of Straclyde university in Glasgow, UK adding that together they can take Biotechnology development to the next level in Nigeria.
