
The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Binta Adamu Bello is in Lagos to receive over a 100 victims of human trafficking rescued from Côte d’Ivoire.
The victims were rescued with the support of partners, NAPTIP said in a statement on Saturday.
“The victims are being evacuated by Air Peace courtesy of the magnanimity of the foremost airline, which has decided to bring them home free of charge.
“She was accompanied by some of the operatives of the agency and was received by the Commander of the Lagos State Command, Mrs. Comfort Agboko,” the statement said.
Adressing officers of the agency at the command, the Director General commended them for their dedication to duties and unwavering commitment to the realization of the mandates of the Agency and urged them to be more steadfast.
She promised to continue to initiate and implement programmes and policies that will ensure the capacity building of the Officers and their overall welfare.
The victims will be received by the Director General, after which they will be profiled.
