The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, has distributed welcome packs containing basic needs to 30 survivors of human trafficking in Yola, Adamawa State Capital.
This is in continuation of her official visit to the North Eastern state.
The victims were among those earlier rescued, profiled, counseled, and are undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation programme at the Adamawa Command of the Agency with the support from Partners.
Speaking shortly before the presentation, the Director General told the victims that the gesture was a deliberate step to make them feel homely and comfortable during their stay at the shelter and urged them to make the best use of the items.
While thanking the UNICEF and the European Union for their support in the provision of the kits, the DG assures that NAPTIP under her watch shall continue to carry out its mandates effectively.
Items in the bags include slippers, tissue, a sponge, a shower cap, soap, sanitary pads, a MacLean tooth paste, brush, and one medium-sized black bag.
