The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, says it has arrested 80 suspects and dislodged 16 notorious drug joints in the first seven days of its new crackdown tagged “Operation Restore Order.”
The operation, launched on 10th August 2026, is being carried out under a “dislodge-and-occupy” strategy, according to a statement on Tuesday by ASN Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Media and Advocacy Officer, Kano Strategic Command.
The Command said the raids were carried out on the directive of NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa.
Between 10th and 16th August, NDLEA operatives led by the Commander, Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, stormed and dismantled known drug hubs including Filin Mahaha, Koki, Dorayi, Rijiyar Lemo, Charanchi, Kasuwar Kurmi, Zage, Gwammaja, Sauna, Wambai, Yan Ayaba, Indabawa, Bela Village, Farm Center, Masaka and Panshekara.
During the raids, officers recovered large quantities of illicit substances and paraphernalia including Cannabis sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, rubber solution, “Suck and Die”, other narcotics, cutting agents, packaging materials, as well as locally manufactured weapons and tools used in the drug trade.
Speaking on the operation, CN DY Lawal said: “This operation is intelligence-led and resolute. The directive from our Chairman/CEO is clear: we must restore order and protect our communities. Those still engaged in these illicit activities should repent before it is too late; we will not relent until Kano is drug-free.”
The command said arrested suspects will be processed and prosecuted in accordance with the law, while investigations continue to identify and dismantle wider trafficking networks.
NDLEA added that ‘Operation Restore Order’ will be sustained and expanded, with continued occupation of dislodged sites to prevent reoccupation.
The Agency appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information, noting that community cooperation is critical to sustaining the gains of the campaign and bringing major offenders to justice.
