The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Shehu Mohammed, on Saturday, visited the Emir of Zazzau Amb Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli in his palace in Zaria.
The FRSC boss, who was in his first visit to his hometown since his emergence as the new corps marshal, was received and conveyed into the palace by some senior council members.
Mohammed was appointed as Corps Marshal on May 20, 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The corps marshal who also holds the traditional title of Sulukin Arewan Zazzau was in the palace as a son to receive the royal blessings of the Emir who is also his childhood friend.
In his address, the Corps Marshal expressed happiness and thanked Almighty Allah for his new appointment.
He also expressed his profound appreciation and beseeched the Emir to help in extending his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment as well as to extend similar appreciation to the Secretary to the government of the Federation Sen. George Akume and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas for facilitating the appointment.
The Corps Marshal seeks for more prayers and support from the Emir and the good people of zazzau emirate for a successful reign. He then requests the Emir to engage all the district heads, ward heads, Imams and other community leaders in assisting FRSC in its public sensitisation campaign against Road traffic crashes and its attendant fatality.
In his response, the Emir expressed his happiness over the appointment of a son from Zazzau Emirate as the new Corps Marshal, FRSC.
The Emir described the Corps Marshal as trustworthy, versatile in Road safety administration, God fearing among other superb qualities known to him about the Corps Marshal from their childhood.
He further expressed confidence that the Corps Marshal will justly discharge his new national assignment without discrimination in ethnic, religious or other diversities.
The Emir then draws the attention of the Corps Marshal to a portion of the road around Gwargwaji area of Zaria along the Kaduna- Zaria express way which has turned into a death trap due to high vehicular and human traffic in area.
He appealed to the Corps Marshal to seek the urgent intervention from the appropriate agency for possible construction of a pedestrian bridge.
Prayers were offered to the Corps Marshal at the palace for a successful reign.
In another development, the Corps Marshal was hosted to a civic reception organised in his honour by family and friends from the Mallawa dynasty in Zaria which was attended by friends, family members and many well wishers.
At the reception, the Corps Marshal expressed gratitude to the organizers of the reception and everyone in attendance for there love and well wishes for him.
