The leading French sports daily L’Equipe confirmed on Sunday that Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, the runner-up of the Arab Football Clubs Championship, has reached an agreement with Neymar, the Brazilian international striker of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The newspaper said in a report on its website that the PSG and Brazil forward will receive a total of 160 million euros ($175 million) over two seasons. Neymar’s current contract with PSG runs until 2025.
It remains for PSG, who want to get rid of the striker, and the Saudi Arabian team to agree on the terms of the transfer, which could be finalised in the coming days.
According to the French daily, the Parisian club have already received an initial offer and is currently in negotiations.
Both the Coach Luis Enrique and the Sporting Director Luis Campos already announced to the striker this week that he would not feature much, if at all, in the coming season.
That has been a determining factor in accelerating talks for Neymar’s departure. Neymar missed PSG’s season-opening 0-0 draw against Lorient in the French league on Saturday after training alone on Friday, with the club saying it was because he was recovering from a viral infection.
But Neymar is heading for a PSG exit and could leave during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old Brazilian joined PSG from Barcelona for a world-record fee of 222 million euros ($244 million) six years ago. (Saudi Gazette)
