- Gov names Lateef Adebayo as KWASSIP committee chair, members
The Kwara State Government today recorded another significant milestone with the commencement of the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme.
To this end, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today presented cheques to the first batch of benefiting communities in Asa, Moro, Edu and Offa local government areas, Modupe Joel,
Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Governor AbdulRazaq who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, noted that the intervention demonstrates the State Government’s commitment towards alleviating the impact of the covid-19 pandemic. on communities and vulnerable groups.
“The State Government is determined to ensure a positive impact of this developmental initiative. It is for this reason that the State Government has approved and released the sum of N76m to Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency-NG CARES (KWCSDA-NG CARES) for the retroactive financing of prior results of result areas 1.4 (basic service infrastructure) of which we are presenting the cheques to first batch beneficiaries today” he said.
Governor AbdulRazaq urged members of the Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) to demonstrate the required forthrightness in managing funds released to the benefiting communities.
He expressed appreciation to the development partners including the Federal Government and the World Bank for the support and sustenance of this program assuring that the enabling environment and funding will be provided for achieving the program objectives in Kwara state.
Speaking earlier, commissioner for finance, Mrs Florence Oyeyemi affirmed that Governor AbdulRazaq is keen on improving the living standards and well being of Kwarans through the provision of basic infrastructure to the poor and vulnerable.
In her remarks, General Manager Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency KWCSDA NG-CARES, Engr Mrs Amamat Haruna noted that the agency is saddled with the responsibility of supporting communities with basic social infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRazaq has appointed Mr. Oloyin Lateef Adebayo as chairman of the committee of Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), the state’s safety net programme targeted at empowering the poor, young people, and vulnerable elders.
Born in 1968, Oloyin has a Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance from Kwara State Polytechnic and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Federal University of Technology Akure. His majors were in advance economics, taxation, financial investment analysis, and organisation behaviour and management.
Oloyin, an associate professional manager of the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered), was a one-time House of Assembly candidate under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
The Governor also appointed Hajia Mariam Yusuf Abdullahi (Asa, Kwara Central); Moshood Alaka (Moro, Kwara North); and Babalola Adeniyi (Oke-Ero, Kwara South) as members of the committee, according to a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye.
The appointments take immediate effect, the statement added.
