Niger governor Bago set to appoint 100 women

  • FIDA to have a Coordinator and 2 SSAS

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger state has disclosed that 100 appointments will be given to women by his administration between today and weekend.

The Governor spoke when he received the Executives of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), led by its Chairperson Mrs. Bola Jibogun at the Government House Minna, according to a statement by his media aide Ibrahim Bologi

Governor Umaru Bago said the appointments would be in fulfilment of his promise to carry women along in the implementation of his policies and programmes.

He announced that out of the 100 appointments, FIDA will have a Coordinator, and two Senior Special Assistants.

The Governor assured them of working closely with them to address gender-related issues.

The Governor maintained that his administration has lots of programmes and policies for women and children.

“FIDA is part of this government so let us join hands and work together to bring about the desired growth and development of the state.

“There are a lot of women initiatives, we are creating a lot of desks to address affirmative actions and also gender-related issues in this government and we hope the collaboration will meet the yearnings and aspirations of women “, he said.

FIDA Secretary, Safura Abdulkareem, explained that as a non-partisan organisation, they protect the rights of women and children as well as stand against any form of Gender-Based Violence.

She expressed the organization’s readiness to support the present administration in the state to ensure success.

FIDA Secretary had earlier requested for inclusion and recognition of FIDA by the present government to further carry out their duties effectively.
