Niger govt donates N250m to Maiduguri flood victims, pledges medical support

Niger State Government has donated N250 million to the flood victims of Maiduguri, Borno State.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago led a State delegation to Maiduguri, to sympathize with the government and people of Borno State over the flood incident that affected over two million people.

He described the situation as devastating and worrisome, which calls for support from all well-meaning Nigerians.

The farmer Governor encouraged his Borno State counterpart, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and the people of the State to remain strong and keep faith in Allah who makes no mistakes.

He also urged the people of Borno State to support their Governor in his efforts to ensure normalcy returns to their lives and livelihoods.

The farmer Governor promised not to hesitate in deploying health workers for medical assistance when the need arises.

In his response, Governor Umara Zulum appreciated the gesture from the Niger state government and assured that the money donated will be judiciously used to support the victims of the flood

He commended the developmental strides of farmer Governor Umaru Bago, adding that he has improved on the existing relationship between the two States.

Some members of the State Executive Council, Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Abubakar Usman ,Special Advisers, Local Government Chairmen, Emirs of Borgu and Kagara were part of the Niger State government delegation.

Special prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed, healing to those injured, and for Allah to replenish the lost properties, livelihoods as well as avert recurrence.

The Niger State delegation was also at the Shehu of Borno’s palace to also commiserate with him and seek royal blessings.
