Niger renames road in Bida after former BOA MD

Niger State government has renamed a major road in the Government Reserved Areas (GRA) of Bida Local Government after former Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santuraki.

Dr. Santuraki, renowned as the Santurakin Nupe, a traditional title conferred upon him by the Bida Emirate Council, had made profound contributions to governance, education, and leadership at both state and national levels.

He had served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai. And in recognition of his exceptional service, he was appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in June 2024.

Dr. Santuraki played a pivotal role as Chairman of the Gubernatorial Inauguration Committee of the present administration in the state in 2023.

According to the Chairman of Bida Local Government, Alhaji Bala Shaba, the road renaming is a testament to Dr. Santuraki’s lifelong dedication to the progress and well-being of the community and Niger State.

Shaba announced that the road previously known as Model School Road has been officially renamed Mohammed K. Santuraki Crescent.

He commended Dr. Santuraki for his unwavering leadership as the prime mover of the Niger-South Senior Stakeholders Forum,  where he has been a vocal advocate and defender of the interests of the Senatorial District.

“This renaming is a testament to Dr. Santuraki’s lifelong commitment to the progress of our people. His leadership, vision, and service continue to inspire many, and we are proud to etch his name into the fabric of Bida’s history.

“This honor reflects the deep appreciation of the people of Bida for Dr. Santuraki’s enduring contributions and his role in shaping the future of Niger State,” he said.
