
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko has declared closed the 6th edition of the One Service One Medal (OSOM) games closed at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
Delivering his closing remarks, the chairman congratulated all the participants, coaches, and officials who took part in the OSOM games, stating that their dedication and hard work were truly commendable.
“As part of our vision under the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE), we are determined to reposition the sports sector as a catalyst for Nigeria’s economic development and a key contributor to Nigeria’s GDP”, he said.
He highlighted how the OSOM games were not just about competing for medals but for promoting unity, camaraderie, and a sense of pride among the participating services.
He also expressed his gratitude to the host city, Abuja, for her warm hospitality and the Moshood Abiola International Stadium for providing a world-class venue for the games.
He emphasized how the facilities and infrastructure at the stadium were a testament to the government’s commitment to developing and promoting sports in the country.
Mallam Shehu Dikko reminded everyone that the OSOM games were not just a one-time event but a continuous effort to promote and recognize the talents and skills of our dedicated service men and women.
He urged the participating services to continue to train and develop their athletes, intending to achieve greater success in the next edition of the OSOM games.

The Chairman thanked the armed forces, police, and other security agencies for their commitment to protecting our nation and for their outstanding performances in the OSOM games and stated that “the talents discovered during this event represent a significant reservoir of talents and potential medalists for our nation.
The National Sports Commission is committed to identifying, nurturing, and supporting these athletes to attain podium finishes at international competitions.”
Dikko thanked the organizing committee, and all the sponsors and partners for their support and contributions towards making the 6th edition of the OSOM games a resounding success.

He emphasized that, “The OSOM games have not just been a display of strength and skill, but a celebration of unity, determination, and excellence. Let the spirit of OSOM continue to inspire all of us to achieve greater heights in our service to the nation.”
He concludes, “I warmly congratulated all the medalists for their outstanding performance.To those who did sevure medals, I encourage you to remain steadfast- your effort and dedication are commendable, and the next edition offers a new opportunity in truth, you are all winners for earning the honour to represent your respective services at this national stage”, Dikko ended.
Speaking earlier, the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade said the 6th edition of the OSOM games have come and gone but leaving behind memorable feelings of tough competitions that demonstrated the Nigerian spirit on tracks. He also captured the essence of the event and its impact on promoting sports, unity, and pride among the service personnel.
The display of talents is quite convincing that the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the efforts of the National Sports Commission are both yielding great impact already”, the DG noted.
He said NSC is determined to develop all category of sports that will enable the Commission to discover and catch them young, the upcoming athletes.
The final outcome shows that Police won the highest number of 114 medals: 42 golds, 38 silvers and 34 bronze; Army has a total of number of 81 medals 81 medals: 15 golds, 35 silvers 31 bronze, and Civil Defence won 79 medals in all with 30 golds, 24 silver and 25 bronze respectively among others.
