OIC welcomes ICC’s arrest warrants against Netanyahu, others

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the decision of the International Criminal Court to issue two arrest warrants against the Prime Minister and the former Minister of Defence in the Israeli occupation government on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

It considered this important step to contribute to ending the state of impunity that the Israeli occupation has enjoyed for decades, and to restore confidence in the international justice system and its role in accountability and achieving justice for victims.

The organization indicated that this decision constitutes a victory for international legitimacy, stressing the need for it to be respected and implemented by the international community as a whole, especially the states parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

It also called on the International Court of Justice to expedite its ruling on the Israeli occupation’s commission of the crime of genocide.

At the same time, the organization renewed its call on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take the necessary measures to implement its relevant resolutions, impose an immediate, comprehensive, and permanent cessation of the crimes of military aggression and genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people continuously for about 14 months, and ensure the adequate and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip.
