Prof MS Abubakar, KASU lecturer, dies

Prof. Muhammad Sani Abubakar of the Physics Department, Kaduna State University (KASU) has died, sources at the institution tell Dateline Nigeria.

It was learnt that Prof Abubakar, a Professor of Molecular Physics and Renewable Energy, died today Friday, 21 January 2022.

He was rushed from VC’s complex and taken to KASU sickbay where he was confirmed dead,” one of the sources said.

The source added that the professor, popularly called Baba Quantum by students, drove himself to the university today and showed no sign of illness.

Prof MS Abubakar, who joined KASU as a visiting lecturer in August 2010, was a former director at the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Centre of Excellence for TVE from 2012 to 2014 and Director of Programmes NBTE from 1999 to April 2010.

He was also Director, College of Science and Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic from 1990 to 1999 and a lecturer of physics at Bayero University Kano (BUK) from 1979 to 1990.
