The Honourable Member representing Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency, Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo, has sent warm greetings to former President of the Senate, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu on his 68th birthday and to the immediate past governor of Benue State, Dr. Gabriel Suswam on his 56th birthday.
Dr. Ottah Agbo, who is popularly known as Ozigizaga and the Moving Train of Enone politics, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr. Andrew Agbese, said Dr. Ayu’s contribution to deepening democracy in Nigeria will remain cherished by all lovers of democracy, good governance and rule of law.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Narcotic Drugs said the period Dr. Ayu served as President of the Senate stands out in the history of quality legislation in Nigeria due to the wisdom, political sagacity and maturity he exhibitted while presiding over the affairs of the Senate under a military government.
Dr. Ottah Agbo said it is the pace set by Dr. Ayu while guiding the legislature to perform its role as an arm of government, that spurred pro-democracy activism and moderated dictatorship during the millitray era
He added that Dr. Ayu’s quality leadership has lighted the path for other lawmakers from Benue State to follow and hold their heads high in parliament and be entrusted with leadership positions by their colleagues.
Dr. Ottah Agbo said he personally has learnt a lot from his association with Dr. Ayu who is currently serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said: “I hereby join friends, families and political associates of this great leader to wish him a happy birthday and more fruitful years ahead.
“I also pray the Almighty God to continue to bless Dr. Ayu and to keep him in good health and sound mind to continue to contribute his quota to the development of Benue and Nigeria.”
Dr. Ottah Agbo also congratulated the immediate past governor of Benue State and Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, His Excellency, Dr. Gabriel Suswam, on his 56th Birthday.
He described the former governor as an uncommon master strategist with vast experience in leadership!
Dr. Ottah Agbo who is the spokesman of the Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives said the former governor is a team player who carries people along and has in the process, led Benue on the path to sustainable growth and development.
He said: “Having served several times in the legislative and in the executive arms of government and with his legal background, Dr. Suswam stands out as one politician who has seen it all.”
Dr. Ottah Agbo commended the former governor for reclaiming the Benue North-East Senatorial Zone for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, noting that, with leaders like Dr. Suswam, the party has nothing to fear.
He prays the Almighty God to continue to guide and protect Dr. Suswam and bless him with the wisdom to serve humanity better.
