Under the aegis of the State Social Protection Council, the Yobe State Government and its partners, including UKaid, the European Union and the Danish Refugee Council have convened a three-day workshop to exchange and advance ideas for how to strengthen social protection in the state.
The workshop is currently underway at Tahir Hotel in Kano.
The workshop seeks to build a network of experienced and knowledgeable policy makers, practitioners and trainers in social protection to engage more actively in the implementation of social protection policies and programmes in the state.
His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy Hon. Idi Barde Gubana who declared the workshop open, pledged to ensure that social protection is institutionalised in Yobe State in keeping with the goals of the State Social and Economic Reform Agenda (YOSERA).
Social Protection policies in the state work to build resilience and social cohesion in communities across the state as Yobe rebuilds and reconstructs for a post-insurgency era.
