RFI Hausa journalist Kabir Yusuf dies in Kano

The deceased, who returned from this year's Hajj in Saudi Arabia few days ago, died in Kano Tuesday night

The Abuja correspondent of the Radio France International (RFI) Hausa, Kabir Yusuf, has passed on at the age of 64.

The Editor in Chiefof RFI Hausa Bashir Ibrahim Idris announced the death in a Facebook post on Wednesday morning.

Idris said the deceased, who returned from this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia few days ago, died in Kano Tuesday night and will be buried today (Wednesday).

“With complete submission to the Will of Allah, I regret to announce the death of our colleague and one of the pillars of RFI Hausa, Kabir Yusuf, our Abuja correspondent, who few days ago returned from pilgrimage in Makkah.

“Kabir passed away in Kano last night and will be buried today. May Allah in His infinite mercies grant this gentleman Aljannah Firdaus,” Idris said.

Commenting, a journalist Nasiru Adamu El-hikaya said “We have been together throughout this year’s hajj until about five days ago when he left us in Makkah and returned to Kano in company of Uwais Abubakar of DW.

“He has been a dedicated person in worship as he always prays in congregation. If you are looking for him around prayer time go to mosque!. Allahummagfir lahu warham hu.”

Also commenting, former Director of Army Public Relations, retired Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka, said “The news of the passing away of Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf is quite shocking and heartwrenching.

“Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to you, his family and the Hausa Service of RFI. His loss is profoundly felt, as he was a highly respected professional whose work and integrity set a standard in the field of journalism.

“Undoubtedly, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and benefiting from his insightful reporting. His dedication to his craft and his unwavering commitment to truth and excellence made him a beacon of professionalism.

Having known and interacted with Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf for many years, his death is a significant loss to me. His wisdom, kindness, and friendship enriched my life in numerous ways.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him aljannah firdausi, amen. May Allah give his family and loved ones the courage and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss find solace and strength during this difficult time, amen.”
