The Global Leadership team of RiceAfrika Technologies, led by the Founder/CEO Ibrahim Maigari Ahmadu, visited The Farmer Governor, H.E. Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State, to congratulate him on the successful participation of the Niger State delegation at the recently concluded Africa Food Systems Forum that took place in Kigali, Rwanda from the 2nd to the 6th of September 2024.
Africa Food Systems Forum is the world’s premier African agriculture and food systems forum. Its headquarters are in Kigali, Rwanda, and it brings together stakeholders to take practical action and share lessons that will advance African food systems.
The 2024 edition attracted over 5000 delegates from 97 countries, 302 speakers, seven former heads of state, and 37 ministers.
Niger State had a strong outing at the event. It showcased the agricultural development projects of the Bago Administration, as well as the immense agricultural potential of the state, which attracted international attention and potential partnerships and collaborations from many delegates, corporations, and donor organizations.
According to the CEO of RiceAfrika Technologies, a leading Agritech company that recently opened its African HQ in Kigali, Rwanda (with operations in Nigeria and Tanzania), the team visited the Governor to convey the appreciation of the Managing Director of the African Food Systems Forum, Mr. Amath Pathe Sane, to the government and people of Niger State, as well as express congratulations on the agricultural projects already started by the government as exhibited at the event.
He further said, ‘’As a stakeholder in the African agricultural space, I was highly impressed with what I saw at the Niger State pavilion at the vent in Kigali, and also heard about the farming revolution taking place in Niger State under the leadership of His Excellency, and I couldn’t have been prouder as a Nigerian to have witnessed how delegates, international players in the agriculture space were impressed by the team from Niger state. We will support the Governor with all we can because his vision aligns with ours towards building an Africa that will feed itself and the world.’’
The Farmer Governor thanked the delegation and reiterated his commitment to strengthening the African food system by investing in agriculture.
He further stated that Niger State can feed not only Nigeria but also the entire continent.
He also expressed his readiness to partner with the AFSF Secretariat in Kigali towards harnessing possible partnerships and collaborations that will attract local and international investments for the continuous development of the agricultural sector of not only Niger State but Nigeria in general.
According to Maryam Musa, Brand Strategist at RiceAfrika Nigeria, the visit also allowed the company’s leadership to introduce to the governor RiceAfrika’s award-winning FarmEASY OS (a technology infrastructure designed to optimize the productivity of farmers in Africa).
She further stated that the delegation also solicited the governor’s support for hosting the AFSF 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria.
Nigeria and Senegal are the two top contenders considered to host the 2025 edition of the AFSF.
