- 10th overall in Nigeria
SCImago, a research group from University of Granada, Spain, has ranked the Federal University Dutse as the number one university in Africa in the area of mathematics out of the 422 universities surveyed for the ranking.
The SCImago 2022 ranking which was announced recently also ranked FUD 43 in innovation in Africa and 55 in research in Africa and 66 overall in Africa out of 422 Universities.
In the overall Nigerian university ranking by SCImago, FUD emerged the 10th overall best university in Nigeria while the university also emerged number 13 in research and 9th in innovation in Nigeria.
The SCImago Institutional ranking is a classification of academic and research related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combine three different set of indicators based on research performance, innovation output and societal impact measured by their web visibility.
It would be recalled that three young academics from FUD; Dr.Tukur Abdulqadir Suleiman, Dr.Aliyu Is a Aliyu ànd Dr. Abdullahi Yusuf from the department of mathematics made the list of top 2 percent of most cited scientists in the world compiled by a team of researchers led by Prof.John Loannidis of the Stanford University, California, in the United States of America.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed congratulated the staff and students of the university for this great achievement adding that the successes recorded under his watch in the last one year is attributable to the commitment and dedication of the staff and students of the university.
He said for FUD to stay on top, all hands must be on deck to ensure that we sustain the momentum and keep the flag flying adding that his ambition is to make FUD the best in Nigeria at the of his tenure.
