SCSN to Imams: Use pulpit to pray against those behind insecurity in North

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has urged Imams to use their pulpits on Friday and call on Muslims to pray against insecurity and those behind it in the country.

In a message signed by its Secretary Nafiu Baba-Ahmed on Thursday, the SCSN specifically urged Imams to “Call on the people to continually seek Almighty Allah’s forgiveness and avoid indulging in sinful acts.

“Call on leaders at all levels, from the president, National Assembly members, state governors and others, to discharge the responsibility placed on their shoulders by protecting peoples lives and property as well as rescuing the North from the grip of insecurity.

“Urge all those who cannot discharge their leadership responsibilities to resign or be recalled, or get their salaries and allowances stopped for failing to carry out their mandates.

“Urge the people to shun ethnicity, which is an evil plot used by enemies of Islam to set Muslims against one another.

“Fervently pray to Almighty Allah to deal with whoever has a hand in the insecurity in the North..”
