- Supporters raise ₦50m for 2027 Governorship
Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has distributed ₦20,000 cash and 188 Hunter Hero motorcycles to All Progressives Congress (APC) members across Bauchi South as part of efforts to reward party loyalists and support grassroots empowerment.
The beneficiaries included party stalwarts, dedicated supporters, and other stakeholders within the senatorial district.
The distribution coincided with a separate initiative in which strong supporters of the senator collectively contributed ₦50 million to purchase the APC governorship nomination form for him ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, former APC State Organising Secretary Abdulkadir Lawal Gyangyan said the intervention reflects Senator Buba’s commitment to supporting loyal party members and strengthening grassroots engagement.
He explained that the motorcycles were intended to ease economic hardship and improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries.
“This is not the first time we are carrying out such an intervention, and it will certainly not be the last,” Gyangyan said, noting that the initiative is part of the senator’s ongoing human and capital development programmes in Bauchi South, with more planned.
APC State Chairman Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde described the gesture as a capital-intensive intervention aimed at lifting beneficiaries out of poverty and promoting self-reliance. He said the items were carefully distributed to selected recipients and assured that more empowerment programmes were in the pipeline.
Tilde commended the senator for the initiative and urged other political office holders to emulate his example in serving the people. He also emphasized the importance of voter registration, reminding party members that a valid voter’s card remains the only means of participating in elections. He added that the party’s membership portal is open for new entrants in the state.
Hussaini Baba, another party leader, praised the senator for what he described as effective and impactful representation at the National Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Baba Sarkin Fawa expressed appreciation for the gesture, saying constituents have no regrets supporting Senator Buba given his contributions to their welfare. He pledged continued support and assured that beneficiaries would mobilize for the senator’s future political ambitions.
Another beneficiary, Munkaila Zakka from Bogoro, said the empowerment was a fulfillment of campaign promises and reaffirmed their readiness to back the senator in 2027.
In a related development, supporters and APC members loyal to Senator Buba have raised ₦50 million to purchase the party’s governorship nomination form for him to contest the 2027 Bauchi State gubernatorial election.
Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Sade, leader of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for Shehu Buba Governorship 2027, said stakeholders had resolved to support Buba’s ambition after wide consultations and a careful assessment of the state’s political landscape.
“After wide consultations and thorough deliberation, we, the stakeholders of APC Bauchi State, have unanimously resolved to support and present a credible, competent, and people-oriented aspirant for the governorship of Bauchi State in the forthcoming elections,” Sade said.
He described the ₦50 million contribution as “not merely financial but symbolic,” representing total confidence in Buba’s leadership capacity, proven track record, grassroots accessibility, and dedication to the welfare of the people.
Sade added that the senator has demonstrated exemplary leadership and legislative competence over the years, with a clear vision for a more prosperous, secure, and united Bauchi State. He said the group’s decision was rooted in the need to reposition the state for sustainable development, economic growth, improved infrastructure, quality education, enhanced healthcare, and inclusive governance.
