Serial killer surrenders to police in Kano

A 20-year-old self acclaimed serial killer, Umar Auwal, alias ‘Abba Dujal’, on Tuesday, surrendered himself to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Wudil, Kano State.

According to a statement by the Kano police spokesperson, SPAbdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ‘Abba Dujal’, a resident of Wudil Local Government Area, Kano State, who confessed of his involvement in multiple violent crimes in the state and its environs.

The police spokesperson said “Umar Auwal has confessed his involvements in different cases of Culpable Homicide, Armed Robbery, Motorcycle and Phone Snatching in different parts of Kano and Jigawa states.

“At Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano – He confessed to have stabbed one ‘Boka’ to death and stole his Infinix Hot 40i mobile phone, which he sold for N40,000.

“At Kurna Quarters, Kano – Umar also confessed to stabbing another person to death and stealing his Samsung S26 phone, which he sold for N160,000.

“In Jigawa State – He confessed to killing a man in Ringim LGA, Jigawa State, and stealing his motorcycle, which he sold for N300,000,” Kiyawa said.

He added that “The suspect is currently in custody at the Command’s Homicide Section, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for detailed investigation into the veracity of his confessions and further necessary actions.”

Meanwhile, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has urged others involved in similar crimes to follow suit.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all inhabitants in Kano State. He further reiterates that criminals will have no hiding place in the State.

“They should therefore, repent and surrender, as no stone will be left unturned in curtailing criminal activities in the State,” the CP said.
