
The Shefarmers Association of Nigeria, FCT chapter, has celebrated its one year anniversary and launched the National Shefarmers Livestock Project.
Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, the FCTA Mandate Secretary for the Women Affairs Secretariat, at the occasion held in Abuja on Thursday, called for more investment in women which she said is investment in the community.
Aminu Saleh, AIG (Rtd), Grand Patron of Shefarmers, in his address, called for urgent land reforms to address issues that hinder women from overcoming challenges to farming in Nigeria.
He said the Association was conceived in 2021 to provide support to women with necessary tools due to the many disadvantages they face.
Aminu Saleh called on Shefarmers Association to take up the challenges raising credit facilities, inadequate skills, cultural and social barriers especially discrimination and limited access to technology.
The Chairperson of the Association, Dr. Maimuna Abdullahi Habib, who spoke on the events theme ” Women Overcoming Challenges of Entrepreneurship and Food Security in Nigeria”, said women farmers are trailblazers who are committed to redefining agriculture in Nigeria.
She said Shefarmers Association are dedicated to empower women who play an indispensable role in agriculture and, in most of our rural communities, work hard to sustain families.
