
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday afternoon observed the Jumaat prayers at the National Mosque in Abuja alongside former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).
Shortly after the prayers, the Vice President joined other Muslims faithful for the Janaiza (funeral prayers) of the late Lieutenant General Garba Duba (rtd).
The Vice President commiserated with the family of the deceased and prayed Allah to comfort them and make Aljanna Firdaus the final abode of the retired general.
The late Gen. Duba was the military governor of Bauchi State from July 1978 to October 1979, just as he was also the military governor of Sokoto State between January 1984 and August 1985.
Others who observed the prayers at the National Mosque also included the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister for Budget and National Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Sabi Aliyu; Minister for Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu, Director General (DG) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd); Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo, and Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari among other dignitaries.
