Shettima attends funeral prayer of Senator Monguno’s father in Maiduguri

The late Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, aged 95, died on Saturday night at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital after a prolonged illness.

Vice President Kashim Shettima today led a delegation of government officials to Maiduguri, Borno State, for the funeral of the late Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, father of the Senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, Mohammed Tahir Monguno.

The late Alhaji Muhammad, aged 95, died on Saturday night at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital after a prolonged illness.

The funeral prayer, conducted by Imam Idaini of Borno, Mamman Shettima Saleh, drew thousands of mourners to the Old GRA residence of Senator Monguno.

Notable attendees included Deputy Senate President Sen. Barau Jibrin; Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari; and Minister of Solid Minerals, Mr. Dele Alake.

Acting Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, eulogized the deceased as a “father figure, community leader, and unifying factor” who made significant contributions to both the state and society at large.

The acting governor offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to find eternal peace.

Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad is survived by 17 children and numerous grandchildren.
