Shettima attends wedding of Hon Kafilat Ogbara’s son in Lagos

Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has enjoined young couples to always preserve the sanctity of marriage as enshrined in the holy books, especially the affirmation of its importance and sanctity in the Qur’an.

The Vice President gave the admonition on Sunday in Lagos at the wedding ceremony of the son of Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, member representing Kosofe federal constituency in the House Representatives, Alhaji Abdulbasit Ogbara and Raabiha Mohammad.

The VP who was Special Guest of Honour also represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the occasion.

Citing a verse in the holy book in his goodwill message and blessing of the couple, Senator Shettima observed that there are many affirmations of the importance of marriage.

He said the gathering was a witness to “the accession to matrimony of Abdulbasit and Raabiha,” noting that “as a young couple, this is the commencement of one of the most spiritually fulfilling endeavours of the life process.”

While congratulating the newly wedded, the Vice President urged them to adhere to their vows, adding that “a marriage is not and has never been a bed of roses.”

He continued: “It is a school of patience; a process of negotiating consent, and a real test of the love that formed the basis of your wedlock in the first place. Difficult moments are also inevitable; so, when those moments come, please lean on two important factors.

VP Kahim Shettima and former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the wedding ceremony in Lagos;

“The first is the love, which brought you into the wedlock in the first place; and the values of the two families from which the two of you were born.

“When you remember those two propositions: love and family, you would summon the most important values to overcome the difficulties that often arise even in the most loving relationships and weddings”.

VP Shettima further prayed for the couple, saying “you would be happy; you’d have dreams and ambitions, and by the grace of Allah, we pray that you’d be able to actualize these dreams and ambitions.”

Also present at the event were former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; the Senator representing Lagos East in the National Assembly, Sen. Mukhail Abiru and Hon. Usman Zannah, among other dignitaries.
