Shettima pays one-day working visit to Nasarawa today

Vice President Kashim Shettima is to pay a one-day working visit to Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, today. The announcement was made yesterday at a joint briefing by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Ibrahim Addra, and Humanitarian Commissioner, Mrs. Margaret Elayo, and Nasarawa Investment Development Agency (NASIDA) Chairman, Mohammed Abdullahi, at the NUJ Press Centre in Lafia. 

According to Addra, the Vice President is to participate in four major official engagements that include the graduation of over 1,000 trained technicians at the Wing Commander Ibrahim Abdullahi Vocational and Technical Institute, with the trainees drawn from across the federation.

The NASIDA boss added that Shettima would perform the groundbreaking for the construction of the agency’s head office, as well as the Multi Outdoor Court, funded by the World Bank through a $4 million facility. 

The Commissioner of Agriculture, Eyimoga Mohammed said the Vice President would also hand over tractors to local council chairmen, distribute rice seedlings, as well as relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by floods.

On his part, Mohammed, while confirming that the procured tractors and rice seedlings would be distributed to every council area, said the move was to boost food security in the state.

Earlier, the governor disclosed that the state government had received about N3 billion from the Federal Government to support flood victims and the IDPs, adding that most of the items to be distributed had been purchased by NASEMA and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. 

Elayo, in her remarks, stated that the Vice President would participate in the distribution of food items, building materials, and wrappers to over 2,000 flood victims across the state.

Shettima is to pay homage to the palace of the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage (rtd). The government appealed for support from the people to visit a huge success.
