Jonathan, Atiku congratulate former minister

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have congratulated Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala over her appointment as a member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Jonathan, in a post on his Twitter handle, said “As a two-time minister in Nigeria you (Okonjo-iweala) left indelible marks as an astute manager of the nation’s economy and resources.

“I am delighted that you have continued to place your substantial wealth of experience as a development economist at the service of many nations and international organisations to aid global growth and progress.

“I have no doubt in my mind that you will excel in the new assignment.”

In his own post, Atiku congratulated Dr Ngozi Ngozi Okonjo-iweala, describing her appointment by President Ramaphosa as “proof that Nigerians are global and capacity is indeed an asset that can be exported.”

Okonjo-iweala had also shared her picture with President Ramaphosa, members of his cabinet, and members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council in Pretoria after “discussing sources of growth for the South African economy and win-win economic interactions with the continent.”
