The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D has described the death of a respected Islamic leader in Kaduna State, Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi, as a painful loss.
Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi, who was also a renowned public servant, died on Saturday night, aged 93.
Speaker Abbas recalled how the late Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi served humanity with dedication, zeal and sacrifice, noting that his passing has created a vacuum too difficult to fill.
The Speaker prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Alhaji Ja’afaru Makarfi, who was a onetime chairman of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna State.
He sent heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kaduna State, especially Governor Uba Sani and the Zazzau Emirate, over the loss.
The late Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi was a commissioner in the old Kaduna State. He joined the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in 1950 and had a distinguished career spanning over four decades.
He was the first Northerner to hold the position of District Superintendent in the Western District of the NRC.
