The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeem Ph.D, GCON, has expressed sorrow over the demise of the President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria and a highly respected Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyyatullah.

Speaker Abbas described Sheikh Hadiyyatullah’s demise as a great loss to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and beyond.

In a press statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker said Sheikh Hadiyyatullah, as a revered cleric, “was a strong voice of peace and togetherness of all citizens.”

The late Islamic scholar was also the founder and director of the Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College of Nigeria, based in Iwo, Osun State, Southwest Nigeria, where he hailed from.

He enjoined other scholars to emulate the noble qualities exhibited by late Sheikh Hadiyyatullah in his dealings with people irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliations.

While extending his condolences to the Sheikh’s immediate family, the people of Iwoland, and the wider Islamic Ummah in Nigeria and beyond, Speaker Abbas urged them to take solace in the lessons from the Sheikh’s legacy of humility, wisdom, and devotion to the dictates of the Holy Quran and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Speaker Abbas prayed to Allah (SWT) to forgive the late Sheikh and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
