Stakeholders tackle thuggery, identify arrowheads of violence in Kano

On 11th December 2024, stakeholders meeting was convened by the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba at the Bompai Police Headquarters Kano.

The meeting which include stakeholders from Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Yakasai A, Yakasai B, Satatima, Yola, Dirimin Iya, Rimin Kira, Kankarofi, Dorayi and Fagge Bayan Plaza Quarters within Kano Municipal and Fagge LGAs aimed to address the recent clashes between youths of Kofar Mata, Yakasai, and their counterparts in Zango, Zage, and neighboring areas.

Stakeholders, including wards heads (Masu Unguwanni), elders, and security committees members from the affected areas, resolved to cooperate with the Police to fish out all perpetrators of the violence and bring them to justice.

Key Resolutions

    1. Community Collaboration: Stakeholders agreed to collaborate with the Police and share intelligence to prevent future clashes and identify perpetrators.

    2. Support for Police Operations: Stakeholders pledged to support Police operations in the affected areas, including providing information and assisting in the arrest of perpetrators.

    3. Regular Security Meetings: Stakeholders agreed to hold regular security meetings to address security concerns and develop strategies to maintain peace and order in the State.

    Speaking on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, ACP Abdulkarim Abdullahi stated: “No stone will be left unturned in identifying, arresting and prosecuting the arrowheads of the violence in the areas.

    “We, therefore, must appreciate the support of the Kano State Government in keeping the State safe, as well the cooperation and commitment of stakeholders to work with us to address the thuggery activities in Kano metropolis. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the State.”
