Plans have reached advanced stage by the Sokoto State government to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change.
This was disclosed by Sokoto State Governo Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who on Monday evening paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, in Abuja.
The governor was accompanied by the state Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sagir Bafarawa.
Gov. Tambuwal and the minister also discussed environmental issues and prospects of more collaboration between the state and the federal government.
According to Bafarawa, the state government has gone far in its effort to become greener, a step, he said, “is paramount in addressing climate change and protecting the environment.”
