Tambuwal, others attend launch of TY Danjuma’s Walter Miller University

Scores of Nigerian big wigs assembled in Lagos Wednesday evening at a dinner to launch the proposed Walter Miller University, Dikko, Niger state.

The project, a brainchild of erstwhile Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) when completed will be the first Anglican university in Northern Nigeria.

Roll call of those who graced the event held at The Wheat Baker hotel in highbrow Ikoyi area of Lagos include four Governors: Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Godwin Obaseki, Abubakar Sani Bello and Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku of Sokoto, Edo, Niger and Taraba states respectively.

Also at the occasion were former Senate President, David Mark, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, ex-Gov. of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha and former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana.

Other guests who attended the grand nosh-up alongside the ceremony are Paris-based Nigerian billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Gilbert Ramez Chagoury, Admiral Bode George (rtd), Maiden Maiden Alex Ibru, the Chairman, Publisher, and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Newspapers and a broad spectrum of friends and well whiners of Gen. Danjuma.

Gen. Danjuma, who was visibly elated expressed his delight to the star-studded ensemble to whom he formally introduced the university.

According to him, two years ago, a group of committed academics and bishops under the leadership of Prof. Adamu Baikie, first don of education in Northern Nigeria met and mooted the idea of setting up the university.

He said “good progress has been made in establishing the university,” and solicited for the support and cooperation of his illustrious guests.
