President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have mourned the passing of Sheikh Modibbo Ibrahim Abubakar Daware, a revered Islamic scholar from Adamawa State.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Sheikh Daware as a man of profound humility, piety, and dedication to Islamic scholarship.
As a prominent leader of the Tijjaniyya sect, the late cleric devoted his life to the dissemination of knowledge and the spiritual guidance of his followers.
The President emphasized that Sheikh Daware’s contributions extended beyond his immediate community, shaping the moral and intellectual fabric of the nation.
“His passing is a painful loss not only for his family and community but also for the country,” President Tinubu stated.
He offered his condolences to the Adamawa State Government, the late scholar’s family, and his many disciples.
“May God grant him peace and mercy in the hereafter. Sheikh Daware’s legacy will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the impact of faith, knowledge, and selfless service to humanity,” he said.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Atiku said “I wish to express my deepest condolences over the loss of Sheikh Ibrahim Abubakar Daware, a prominent Islamic scholar in Adamawa State.
“He was a former Chairman of the Fityanul Islam Adamawa State and a leading Sufi jurist in Nigeria. May the family and friends be comforted.
“I pray that the Almighty Allah will forgive his sins and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.”
Sheikh Modibbo Ibrahim Daware was widely respected for his role in promoting religious enlightenment, unity, and moral discipline.
His teachings and influence, President Tinubu noted, will endure as a beacon of guidance for generations to come.
