Uba Sani performs ground breaking for reconstruction of roads, market

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has performed the groundbreaking for the reconstruction of the 1.4km Water Intake Road from Patrick Yakowa Way to Maigero Junction, and the upgrading and maintenance of the 3.15km Maigero – Narayi Junction Way, totalling 4.55km within the Kaduna metropolis.

The completion of these two vital roads in Chikun Local Government will not only stimulate commercial activities within the areas but also significantly reduce travel time for residents, the governor said during the exercise on Monday.

“Furthermore, the construction of these roads will pave the way for a multitude of job opportunities, both directly and indirectly, thereby fostering a sense of hope and optimism for a brighter future among the communities.

“Our administration has taken a bold step by performing the groundbreaking for the construction of approximately 50 roads, totaling 639.5km across the three senatorial districts.

“These road projects have been strategically planned to enhance connectivity and accessibility for residents, farmers, business owners, and other road users in the three zones.

“While a number of these projects have already been successfully completed, the remaining majority are progressing steadily towards completion, with a clear focus on enhancing transportation networks and promoting overall development within the state.

Also today, Uba Sani performed the groundbreaking for the construction of the remodelled Panteka Market, a joint initiative of the Kaduna State Government and members of the Old Panteka Market Development Association (OPMDA).

“The State Government will construct a clinic, fire station, outdoor public toilets, incinerators, two transformers, security posts, places of worship, and ICT Center in the remodeled market located in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.

“The Old Panteka Market Development Association (OPMDA) will handle the construction of shops,” the governor said.

“When completed, the market will be a major center for skills acquisition and creation of thousands of jobs. It will be the biggest technology hub in Northern Nigeria.

“It will contribute to our economic revitalization drive. Youths will be trained in carpentry, welding, painting, roofing, plumbing, electrical work and other trades.

“We wish to express our appreciation to the leadership and members of the Old Panteka Market for working closely with us to make today’s historic event possible. Our gratitude also goes to the Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje and his directors for their support towards the actualization of this initiative.

“We also thank the Management of Kaduna Polytechnic for facilitating the formalization of skills training in Panteka Market under the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). Graduates of Panteka can easily get jobs at home and abroad with their NSQF certificate,” he said.
