UNILAG alumni association celebrates University of Lagos at 60

As part of activities to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the founding of University of Lagos (Unilag), the University of Lagos Alumni Association will on Friday, November 25, 2022 commission the iconic, state-of-the-art Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe Building donated to the association.

Named after the institution’s late Vice Chancellor, Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, the building is located along Tafawa Balewa Way in the Akoka main campus of the university, according to a statement by the Chairman of the Organising Committee and the First Vice President of the Alumni Association, Dr. (Chief) Fassy Adetokunboh Yusuf.

He disclosed that the ceremony will be presided over by Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State and will be attended by alumni and alumnae of the University from all walks of life including the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Senator Lanre Tejuoso and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola. 

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, the Alumni Association will hold its Diamond edition of the Unilag Alumni Awards’ and Dinner with Vice President and distinguished alumnus, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as the Chief Guest of Honour, and Alhaji Aliko Dangote as the Chairman.

Distinguished alumni and alumnae including the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi will be conferred with awards. The event is designed to be a gathering of Unilag’s galaxy of most prominent alumni cum alumnae, and who is who in the country. The occasion is holding at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
