
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University (YSU), Prof. Bashir Tahir, has pledged to upgrade the University Clinic to enable it provide expanded secondary healthcare services to the university community.
Prof. Tahir made this commitment when a delegation from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Yobe State Office, paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
The Vice-Chancellor described the NHIA as a critical intervention designed to ease the hardship often faced by vulnerable and low-income individuals in accessing quality healthcare services.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional health facilities to support the wellbeing of staff and students, noting that the proposed upgrade of the clinic would significantly enhance service delivery.
Earlier, the NHIA delegation congratulated Prof. Tahir on his well-deserved appointment and prayed for Allah’s guidance and wisdom in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The team expressed optimism that the Vice-Chancellor would leverage his vast academic experience and professional network to advance the academic and infrastructural development of the university.
The NHIA team comprised the outgoing Acting State Coordinator, Malam Mansur Akilu; Alhaji Abubakar Othman, Head of Programmes; Dr. Salisu Hassan of the Enlightenment Unit; and Dr. Ahmed Dasuma Abubakar of the Standards and Quality Assurance Unit.
