Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has retained his Senate seat after defeating Sokoto State Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya in the Sokoto-North senatorial election.
Wamakko won with a total of 141,468 votes, while Dan’iya garnered 118,445 votes in the supplementary election conducted on Saturday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the first round of the Sokoto-North senatorial election inconclusive after it was conducted on February 25, 2023.
