Why I dumped APC for NNPP, by Shekarau

Former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has confirmed dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Speaking to BBC Hausa, the former governor, who represents Kano Central in the Senate, also confirmed picking Senate form of the NNPP, adding that he had submitted his resignation letter to APC chairman of his ward.

He said they had been discussing the fate of Kano State with his predecessor and successor in office Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and resolved to unite in order to save the state.

The defection of Shekarau to NNPP was earlier announced by the former Director General of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s Support Group AbdulMumin Jibrin, who has also joined the party.
