Kwara, Osun and Ogun state governments have declared Monday public holiday in honour of the World Teachers’ Day (WTD).
In Kwara, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq directs that this holiday be enjoyed by teachers in the public and private sector as a mark of appreciation for what they do.
This is according to a statement by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu.
“He wishes them a blessed holiday.”
In Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke declared Monday the 7th of October, 2024 as a work free day for all teachers in both public and private schools in the state.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi said the holiday is with a view to identifying with all teachers throughout the state on the annual occasion in view of their invaluable contributions to the growth of education sector, not only in Osun and Nigeria but the world at large
In Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun declared Monday as a work-free day for teachers in the state in commemoration of this year’s Teachers’ Day in the state.
The schools are expected to resume academic activities on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Abiodun made this disclosure on Saturday during the celebration held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, the state capital.
